A camel is a popular way to tour the pyramids (9 miles west of Cairo) of Khufu (Cheops), Kheophren (Cheophren ) and Menkaru (Mycerinus). Khufu (Cheops)  is theoldest and largest and was erected about 2690 B.C. Its original hieght was 481 feet and its base  covered 13 acres. Kheopheren, Khufu's son, built the second and slightly smaller of the  large pyramids about 2650 B.C.
