Celestron EdgeHD 925 SCT with Celestron 0.7X focal reducer --
Moon crop on 3-9-2022 showing blue and red  fringing of some craters near shadowed region

Moon on March 9, 2022, crop half moon
Showing blue fringing on the lower crater shadowed areas and red
fringing on the upper shadows on some craters

Photographic Data
Telescope: Celeston EdgeHD 9.25-inch SCT with Celestron 0.7X focal reducer
ISO 200, 1/60 second single exposure at f/7
Camera: Canon SL1 DSLR (APS-C)

From photo above: tighter crop with increased color saturation to show the red
and blue color fringing

Cloudy Nights critism of Celestron EdgeHD 0.7x focal reducer
What's wrong: EdgeHD 925 with .7 Focal Reducer - Experienced Deep Sky Imaging - Cloudy Nights
.

That is likely the reducer causing it.

I had similar problems with my EdgeHD 8 and the 0.7x focal reducer.  This artifact has sometimes been referred to as "rainbow stars".  I checked though many images on astrobin and any Edge series scope with a 0.7x reducer seems to have a good chance of seeing this to one degree or another.  My survey of images seemed to indicate that the EdgeHD 8 had the worst case of it, the EdgeHD 11 was not as bad, and the EdgeHD 9.25 had the fewest instances of it.  But I found images from all 3 scopes that showed it with the 0.7x reducer.

This is truly unfortunate because you can't really get another, better option for a reducer and the scopes are too long to accommodate most of today's small-pixel sensors without a reducer, unless you want to bin.

My solution is to move to a different scope.  I have my eye on the not-yet-released Sharpstar SCA260.
