Biography
I was born in 1977 in Melbourne
Australia. My interests in astronomy started in the mid 1980's when my
grandfather purchased a Tasco 4.5" Newtonian telescope and showed me
Saturn.
I work for VPN Solutions Pty Ltd as the State Manager of Victoria
providing Wide Area Networks (VPN's) to Corporate Australia. I started my
career in the mid 1990's in the data comms and telecommunications
industry, which has provided me with a strong technical background, which
I find very useful in this hobby. I have a very supportive wife, a
baby girl due in early April 2006 and two Golden Labradors.
I have to confess that I'm not much of a visual astronomer as my primary
interests are with CCD imaging, which was fuelled by the purchase of a
Meade Schmidt-Newtonian 254mm telescope back in early 2003. After
learning the basics of CCD imaging with a Digital Camera I then moved onto
a Meade LX200Gps 254mm Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope in mid 2004. This
telescope was my major learning platform up to mid 2005. After
reaching the imaging limitations of the LX200Gps I decided to purchase a
RC Optical Systems 317mm Ritchey-Chrétien and William Optics 80mm
Refractor which is my current imaging platform.
I consider myself an easy going approachable guy. I often find myself
going out of my way to help others learn the art and science of CCD
imaging. Feel free to drop me an email.
