Orion's Horsehead
The Horsehead Nebula is the small dark Nebula (Barnard-33) located at the center of this image.
It is surrounded by the red emission nebula IC434.  The bright star at the left is Zeta Orionis the first (western) star in Orion's belt.  Just below it is the tan colored NGC2024 (sometimes called
the Flame Nebula or "tank-tracks").

Photographic Data: This is a composite image of three digitally stacked negatives.  Each was
taken with an Astro-Physics 155 mm f/7 EDF refractor.  Exposure time was 50 minutes each
(2.5 hours) with Kodak PPF 400 film.
