Passerelle Saint-Vincent
over the Saone
River, Lyon France
The first Saint Vincent bridge was built in 1637, but was destroyed by
natural events several times. In 1827, a project was developed to
replace the bridge, too old and poorly placed. It proposed to build a new
bridge further downstream and to be replaced by a simple bridge. The Saint
Vincent bridge was opened to the public at the end of the year 1832. In
1840, the bridge deck was damaged by flooding. It was repaired and did not
need major work since then. The bridge is 76.50 m long and 2.80 meters
wide.
