Arromanches
Beach today (Gold Beach on D-Day) The town lies along the D-Day landing
site of Gold Beach, one of the beaches used by British troops in the
Allied invasion. Arromanches was selected as one of two Mulberry Harbours.
The other was off Omaha Beach to the west.
