Piazza del Duomo ("Cathedral Square") in Pisa, Italy
The Piazza del Duomo ("Cathedral Square") is walled area at the heart of the city of Pisa (Tuscany), Italy.  It is recognized as one of the main centers for medieval art in the world and is dominated by four great religious edifices:
the Duomo (seen here), the Leaning Tower (the cathedral's campanile), the Baptistery and the Camposanto.

The heart of the Piazza dei Miracoli is the Duomo (cathedral or basilica) -- called Santa Maria Assunta (St. Mary of
the Assumption). It was begun in 1064 A.D. by the architect Buscheto who is the originator of the distinctive Pisan Romanesque style in architecture.
