Leaning Tower of
Pisa, Italy 2011
(all photos on this page taken by Dylan Stecker, 2011 with Canon A620) The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a freestanding 186 ft. high bell tower or campanile in Pisa, Italy. It is situated behind a large cathedral (the Duomo). Although intended to stand vertically, the tower began leaning to the southeast soon after the onset of construction in 1173 A.D. due to a poorly laid foundation. The tower has 296 steps and leans at an angle of about 4-degrees. . |
