The Oculus of the Pantheon in Rome
The oculus is an opening at the dome's apex. Throughout the day, the light
from the oculus moves around this space in a sort of reverse sundial
effect. The air in the dome can cause a "sunray" effect do to scattering
of light off dust particles --
Tyndall Effect.
The Pantheon was the second dome in the entire world to have been built
circa 27 BC.
