The Golden Triangle of northern Thailand
This region is one of Asia's main illicit opium-producing areas. It is an
area of around 367,000 square miles that overlaps the mountains of the
four Southeast Asian countries of Burma, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. The
Golden Triangle also designates the confluence of the Ruak and the Mekong
rivers. |
