IC 405 and IC 410
On the right is IC 405 ("Flaming Star Nebula"). This is primarily a red emission
nebula, but has blue reflection nebulosity as well in its northern region. The
illuminating star is AE-Auriga which in a variable O-type. At the lower left is
the wreath shaped emission nebula IC 410.

Photographic Data: An Astrophysics 130 mm f/6 EDF refractor which was
telecompressed to f/4.5 (FL= 600 mm) was used with hypersensitized
Fujicolor HG 400 35 mm film. Two 50-minute exposures were made centered
at RA 18 hrs, 55 min and Declination +34 degrees. The field of view is
3.4 x 2.3 degrees and north is up. The negatives were stacked and processed
in the computer.
