Great Orion Nebula (M42) and Running-Man Nebula (NGC 1977)
The Orion emission nebula (M42) along with the Running-Man Nebula (NGC 1977) are found in "Orion's Sword" below the belt stars.  M42 is the nearest star-forming region to Earth at 1,350 light years and is about 2-million years old.  At its heart is the very bright Tapezium.
This is a joint project of James Foster and Michael Stecker.
