Helix Nebula (NGC 7293) |
![]() Helix Nebula (NGC 7293), cropped The Helix Nebula (NGC 7293) is a nearby planetary nebula in the constellation Aquarius. It is the final stage of a dying sun-like star that was formed when the star shed its outer layers, leaving behind a central white dwarf. This is a joint project of James Foster and me using a Sky-Watcher Quattro 250P 10-inch f/4 Newtonian telescope with a ZWO ASI2600MC-Pro color camera and Optolong L-extreme 7 nm nebular filter (Hydrogen-alpha and Oxygen-III wavelengths pass) for 6-hour stacked exposure and cropped image file: HelixEEfilter365minEXP2B-a2cr.jpg Click here for full resolution photo Photographic Data telescope: Sky-Watcher Quattro 250P (10-inch f/4 Newtonian telescope with coma corrector) FL= 1,000 mm mount: iOptron Cem60 guiding off-axis imaging cameras: ZWO ASI2600MC-Pro color astrocamera with Optolong L-extreme nebular filter (bandwidth 7nm for both Hydrogen-alpha and Oxygen-III) filter: Optolong L-extreme nebular filter (bandwidth 7nm for both Hydrogen-alpha and Oxygen-III) exposure: 136 X 160 sec total exposure time: 365 minutes or 6 hours .photographic site: James Foster observatory at Pinon Pines Estates (Frazier Park) California (Bortle 4 at 5,500 ft elevstion) ![]() Helix Nebula (NGC 7293) same as above, but before it was cropped file: HelixEEfilter365minEXP2B-a2.jpg Click here for full resolution photo |
