Horsehead Nebula (B33) in Orion --
cropped
This is a crop of the photo below. The dark Horsehead Nebula (Bernard 33) is adjacent to the most eastern star, Zeta Orionis, in the belt of the Orion constellation. This is a joint collaboration of James Foster of Frazier Park California and Michael Stecker of Los Angeles. A Sky-Watcher 250P, 10-inch f/4 Newtonian, telescope was used at Frazier Park. It is a triple star system located at a distance of 1,262 light years from Earth and is one of the three main stars of Orion's Belt along with Alnilam and Mintaka. The primary star, Alnitak Aa, is a +2 magnitude hot blue supergiant star.
