Witch Head Nebula and Rigel -- Rokinon 135 mm f/.2 lens cropped
The blue-white supergiant star Rigel and Witch Head Nebula are found at the Orion/Eridanus border 860 light-years away.   The off-white Witch Head Nebula is a faint reflection nebula believed to be an ancient supernova remnant or gas cloud illuminated by nearby supergiant star Rigel  In this photo Rigel is left and below center, while the white Witch Head Nebula (NGC 1909/IC 2118) is above and to its right (northeast). This cropped image is a joint project of James Foster and Michael Stecker using a Rokinon 135 mm f/2 lens stopped down to f/3.5 with stacked 45-second exposures.
